The Story

About Us

The Jamaica Connection was created in January 1984 five years after the first visit to Negril.

From Minnesota to Jamaica, many people were introduced to the laidback lifestyle found in Negril.

In 1984, Maggie Martin partnered with Blue Danube Tours as our “ground handlers” meeting incoming visitors at the Montego Bay Airport and carrying them to Negril hotels.

We learned tourism from Negril’s first hotel owners who were inviting agents to introduce their Hotels to persons coming to Jamaica.   Xtabi “Meeting Place of the Gods” was the first such place.

As years passed, we expanded with newer hotels coming onboard which offered choices to new comers.  More music venues were opening including Alfred’s, Roots Bamboo and Yacht Club presenting nightly and weekly shows featuring local musicians.

Interest in Jamaica mounted as more charter flights were operating out of the Minneapolis and Chicago airports. With groups of 20-50 persons at a time, we were all falling in love with the unique western Jamaica that was welcoming hippies and families to enjoy the Negril’s romantic exotic cliffs and warm Caribbean waters along our seven mile beach.

We could say the “rest is history” but Jamaica Connection continues with a long time following of avid annual visitors. We are not the “click here to book”service.  We pride ourselves in keeping the human interaction vividly alive to advise and inform you of the “real time” situation at all guest houses, hotels, villas and resorts.

Our goal is that you are 100% comfortable in your chosen setting.
